Strongly committed to its values of inclusion and equal opportunities for all, in 2021 Université Paris-Saclay launched a training programme for young women, in partnership with the Women Initiative Foundation, aimed at helping them to develop their leadership skills and potential in the corporate world. On Tuesday 9 April 2024, a third year of young women who took part in the programme this year attended the programme’s graduation ceremony at the Cercle de l'Union Interalliée in Paris.

Université Paris-Saclay has made equality opportunities one of its priority projects. As part of this, in 2021, the university launched the Women in business: BeCome a leader programme, in partnership with the Women Initiative Foundation, which strives for the promotion of women in working environments.

The programme is aimed at women with approximately 8 years of professional experience, with 2 or 3 years of undergraduate-level education. It is designed to open their professional horizons and help them to develop their networks, with a 360° insight into the corporate world and how it is organised.

The 12-day programme is divided into two main parts: (1) a week-long in-person session at Université Paris-Saclay, and (2) a series of remote and in-person days throughout the year.

The programme includes talks from experts from the corporate and business worlds, role plays and meetings with inspiring people: researchers, Nobel Prize winners, leaders of major French companies, and top-level athletes.

The programme also includes a 6-month mentoring scheme, with volunteer mentors, allowing for more personal feedback and exchanges.

Three young women from Université Paris-Saclay were able to take part in the programme, mentored attentively and competently by Michel Andrieux, the former Deputy Director of Polytech Paris-Saclay, Lydie Eyrignoux, Administrative and Financial Head of the university’s Estates and Heritage Service, and Hamida Muller, head of the university’s Maison du Doctorat.

Since it was first launched, approximately 60 young women from a wide range of backgrounds have successfully completed this unique and original programme, both in terms of its ambition and innovative content.
